Chiropractic Care

Did you know?

  • A seven-year study published in 2007 showed that patients whose primary care physician was a chiropractor had 60% less hospital admissions, 62% less surgeries, 59% less days in hospital, and 85% less pharmaceutical costs than those who did not have a chiropractor as a primary care physician. (J Manipulative Physiol Therapeutics 2007 (May); 30 (4): 263–269)

The third largest health profession in the United States, chiropractic is a gentle, drug-free option for regaining and maintaining good health.  Chiropractic is based on the physiologic principles that:

  1. The brain and nervous system are responsible for all bodily functions;
  2. The brain, spinal cord, and body communicate directly (through nerves) and indirectly (through chemicals;)
  3. Misalignments in the bones of spine can and tightness in soft tissues can interfere with the nerve communication between the brain and body, causing dysfunction and if left uncorrected, symptoms.  Chiropractic adjustments restore proper movement and alignment in the bones of spine to improve this communication, relieve symptoms, and allow the body to work at its best.

Chiropractic treatment has great success with symptoms such as back pain and headaches as well as common disorders of childhood such as colic, breastfeeding difficulty, and ear infections.

Dr. Belinda has received certification in prenatal and pediatric chiropractic care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice. Through this program she participated in a Practice-Based Research Network,where she gathered and submitted data relating to chiropractic wellness care for children. The program also included additional education on common conditions of pregnancy and childhood as well as techniques that help adapt treatment to the specific needs and variety of body sizes found in these groups.

Chiropractic care provides tremendous value during pregnancy, when increasing forces and demands are placed on a woman's body and pelvis and can lead to fetal positional issues (such as breech), sciatica, and other types of pain.

Chiropractic care is also extremely valuable during infancy and childhood.  Even normal, natural births can cause spinal misalignments, and chiropractic care is often the missing link between birth and comfortable infants who nurse and sleep well. Chiropractic care also acts as another approach for children with ear infections, helping to avoid the overuse of antibiotics.  Treatment is also helpful for guiding children through periods of rapid growth and musculoskeletal conditions from accidents or sports.
